Opening Doors to Europe – Our Visit to St. Ann College, Limbe

How one afternoon of conversation helped young Cameroonians see a world of universities, scholarships, and possibilities stretching far beyond their classroom walls.

EERIV Europe visits St Ann College Limbe

Access to the right information is one of the most powerful tools a student can be given. Beyond grades and textbooks, young people need exposure to opportunities, to evolving education systems, and to honest conversations that help them picture what their future could actually look like in an increasingly connected world.

On 20 August 2024, the EERIV Europe team visited St. Ann College in Limbe as part of our ongoing educational awareness and student engagement programme, connecting young learners with international study opportunities and a more global academic outlook.

The visit gave us the chance to speak with students directly to share what studying internationally really involves, and to underline how preparation, exposure, and informed decision-making shape the opportunities available to them.

The Goal: Creating Educational Awareness

A central aim of our visit was to introduce students to opportunities and pathways they might never encounter within their immediate environment. Many young people hear about “studying abroad” through social media or casual conversation, yet rarely understand what these opportunities genuinely require.

During our session at St. Ann College, we walked students through the topics that matter most:

  • European education opportunities
  • Student mobility and global exposure
  • How education systems work across Europe
  • Scholarship awareness and funding routes
  • Academic preparation and planning
  • Personal growth and development
  • The skills needed to thrive in a global environment

The message was simple but important: opportunity is no longer bound by geography when you are equipped with the right information and the right mindset.

The Mindset - Thinking Beyond Borders

Today’s students are no longer preparing for local opportunities alone. The academic and professional landscape has become deeply global, and that calls for a broader way of thinking about the future.

Throughout the session, we encouraged students to build a mindset rooted in continuous learning, adaptability, confidence and ambition, leadership and communication, and a genuine openness to international opportunities. We stressed the value of preparing early, developing relevant skills, and staying informed about how education is changing around the world.

“Your future possibilities are not limited by your environment, they are shaped by your information, your preparation, and your ambition.”

The Opportunities - Where We Support Students Across Europe

We also shared insight into the European destinations where EERIV Europe currently guides students through educational counselling and admissions support. Studying in Europe offers multicultural learning environments, internationally recognised qualifications, exposure to innovation, and significantly expanded career opportunities.

The Bigger Picture - Building Our Presence in Schools

Our visit to St. Ann College is part of a wider commitment to educational outreach across schools and communities. Over the years we have organised and joined initiatives spanning awareness campaigns, school outreach programmes, international education sessions, student mentorship, career guidance, and educational partnerships, all in service of our mission to make international education more accessible to African students.

Our Commitment - Empowering Every Student

At EERIV Europe, we remain dedicated to helping students gain the information, exposure, and support they need to pursue their goals with confidence. We believe empowerment begins with awareness, with helping young people understand that their potential is not defined by where they start.

As we continue engaging schools and student communities, our focus stays the same: inspiring growth, ambition, leadership, and global competitiveness in the next generation.

Our awareness visit to St. Ann College, Limbe, on 20 August 2024 was another meaningful step on that journey, and we look forward to many more conversations that inform, inspire, and open doors.
